I absolutely hate lies and deceitfulness . . . and so, honesty; openness and trust on a mutual basis, are all of great. importance to me, and are really all that i ask for as a foundation of any potential long-term and happy relationship.
I am something of an old romantic, and besides enjoying a kiss and a cuddle, i like to treat a lady as a lady, and hopefully. make her feel a bit special. Given the right lady, i can be very loving . . . yes, i still enjoy walking hand in hand or holding the door open etc.
I am a long-retired 70 year old; 6'-0" tall, and a bit on the heavy set side, so if you are seeking a slim and slender sort of bloke, then sorry, i'm not him. The beard has been known to have been removed from time to time. I'm a widower of several years now, having had a 40+ years (not always too happy) marriage.
Have no real hang ups, and consider myself articulate and reasonably. intelligent; have an easy going nature easy to get along with. My only real weakness, if i dare to say this, is a lady in suspenders and stockings (see, i'm revealing my secrets already and we've not even met! ). I HATE football, but LOVE rugby. . . though sadly, far too old to play anymore . I love animals, especially cats and dogs (have some of my own). I don't smoke and rarely drink.
Not a forceful man, and i make no demands on a lady; i want her to feel safe with me at all times, as well as being happy and content in my company. Been told i have a quirky sense of humour, sometimes even a bit wicked . . . but NOT evil ! . . . . i'm totally harmless i promise. Strictly a case of 'what you see is what you get'; put simply, i am who i am, can be a bit too rough around the edges at times for some peoples liking perhaps; but that's the real me, and i put on airs and graces for no one. It would be nice to evolve a relationship at it's own pace, and let things unfold as we get to know each other.
I have many hobbies, too many to mention here, but a few include: reading; clay pigeon shooting; photography; exploring places in the UK; motorcycles; restoring old motorcycles; my former trade, woodworking.

I love life. All pbotos on my profile were taken during or after August 2022..I'm happy, lively and confident. I love my work as a therapist. I walk my dog for 2 hrs everyday. I like to play my flute, listen to audio books, learn a language. I enjoy cooking, spending time with friends, cinema, live music, a pint of bitter, lighting my woodburner, travel, tennis in the summer, swimming and snorkeling, dancing, parties, baths, camping, cycling, boats, meals out, cake, flowers, all food, Reggae, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, intelligent conversation about anything, affection, compliments, fair-mindedness, spending time with my grown up children. I'm a pescatarian, left of centre, live on a narrow boat, am muddy one minute, smart the next. I'm warm, loving, affectionate, kind, honest, fit, energetic and mostly I love what each new day brings. I love to laugh and be with people, but I'm just as happy on my own for hours and hours. I'm not particularly materialistic, shop as a necessity, though I do love clothes.
I did my first degree in Physics and Astrophysics and taught Physics for a while. I love a wiring diagram, a logical problem a technical/scientific article or analysis, but will get someone else to do anything involving tools!
I have moved into work as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. I like open, kind communication about the good, the bad and the ugly in relationship. Emotional connection and clear communication is high on my list in my relationships and friendships. If you ain't happy, please say and we'll sort it out! At the same time I am wary of political ranters and any kind of relentless outpouring of negativity (How to sort it out if everything is wrong?). Optimism and a positive outlook are more my thing.
I'm clean, on time, reliable, respectful.... a little scatterbrained.... always have been. My keys, shoes, hairbrush are never lost, just mislaid.
